Deploying A Social Wifi Sensor

By Johnny Ruhaul

To continue off from our last blog post and to respond to our customers questions yes all social wifi devices and hardware will connect on port 4 to your broadband router. Once you have successfully configured the wireless hotspot access point you will need to access the web interface. Either IP of 172.16.25.x should have been connected or released on your RF device if your connected to that social wifi router SSID. If not please look for your SSID and connect to it and make sure your device picks up a valid DHCP address from 172.16.25.x. Once your are on your valid social wifi network you will just log into the web ui.

The following information should be checked and documented for future support or if you DNS information or other network information has changed.

Connectsim still sells regular social WiFi or wi-fi enabled hardware & software packages but we tend to offer a better solution or offerings by bundling all of our packages into one. You can still purchase just a regular level 1 or entry social WiFi enabled hardware from us and we will support and or install it for our customers. Currently we are only shipping our products in Canada and in the USA. Our rates are all in usd currency and depending on stock levels and inventory our products may ship from our Toronto warehouse or our Las Vegas, Nevada office.

For logistics and shipping for our social WiFi hardware the majority of our products or I would say at least 60% of them have been shipping from our distribution office in Canada. Many customers are asking which product is the most popular and which is the most low cost maintenance. From what we've seen the TP-link wireless router has been a very popular social wi-fi enabled sensor. I would say 60% of our customers have been ordering these and they are mostly retail and restaurant businesses that are roughly 800-1000 square feet in size.

If your wondering which package they select its usually the standard starter package with the added upgrade content filtering. The next most popular social WiFi hardware is the Meraki MR series enterprise cloud sensor or access point. This by far the most popular option as Meraki's features and cloud based solution is amazing. Cisco offers a very high % of uptime so you'll rarely every see their data line or connection fail. We still support other hardware such as Netgear, Dlink, Ruckus, Cisco and many more hardware sensor or Aps for your social WiFi solution.

If your not going with a wireless site survey, the next best thing to download is a free tool such as meta geeks free tool that will show you your RSSI and SNR strength. Your threshold for RSSI should be around -70 to -75 and SNR always above 25. For more best practices on signal and coverage and hardware recommendations for your social WiFi network please stay tuned to my next article.
