Stunning Figures: Android vs iPhone

By Dan Ryan

Owners of ipads and iphones have certainly in times past directed to the Apple App store. It's usually been the explanation why lots have actually selected iOS gadgets over those powered by Android, however things could be starting to move in an entirely new path.

While application designers have often suggested that Android users downloading apps is an exercise in futility, new figures show that things are changing, with Android developers now locating a much enhanced platform, and profits from Android gadgets are increasing a lot quicker compared to that of the App Store.

The statistics are rather startling. Application analytics firms have released some numbers which coat an extremely different image to the one we are all so used to. Gone are the days of iOS developers thumbing their noses at Android.

According to the record, application earnings on Google's Play Shop expanded 311% over a span of one year. In contrast, the revenue from App Store apps increased just 13%.

So what does this mean for android developers? Well, with 6 billion Application downloads from the AppStore and over 750,000 approved apps in total, the are little chances applications will get noticed in this competitive iPhone market. No wonder why there are now an increasing number of Android applications and android developers being released.

Some might say that the App Store is simply topping out, which it already makes so much money for developers, just how much longer can developers continue to earn money from the App Store? And they are most likely right.

Predictably, there are simply 2 major ways of earning money from mobile apps, and they are extremely different. Some designers choose the path of launching many upon many cheap or free apps, with advertisements littered all over the app. Others take the more quality-driven approach, choosing to have things done right the first time with a couple of high quality applications. While both methods work to some degree, we all know which we prefer.
